05th June 2025

The Gambling Regulators’ European Forum (GREF) is pleased to share a series of developments that reflect both the association’s progress and its evolving role in supporting regulatory cooperation across Europe.

Board Renewal and New Leadership

GREF is pleased to announce the updated composition of its Board, as confirmed during the recent General Assembly. This reflects a combination of continuity and change, with several members taking on new roles, new members joining, and others continuing their mandates. All Board members will serve a two-year term and remain committed to advancing GREF’s mission through ongoing dialogue and cooperation among European gambling regulators.

  • Chair: Anders Dorph, Denmark (elected as Chair; previously a Board member)

  • Vice-Chair: Magali Clavie, Belgium (elected as a Vice-Chair; previously a Board member)

  • Treasurer: Tim Miller, United Kingdom (continuing mandate)

  • Secretary: Jean-Michel Costes, France (newly elected)

  • Ordinary Member: Kinga Warda, Malta (renewed mandate)

  • Ordinary Member: Atle Hamar, Norway (renewed mandate)

  • Ordinary Member: Michel Groothuizen, Netherlands (newly elected)

  • Ordinary Member: Alexiou Antonis, Greece (newly elected)

We extend our warm congratulations to Mr. Anders Dorph on his election as Chairperson and to Ms. Magali Clavie as Vice-Chairperson. We look forward to their leadership in supporting GREF’s strategic objectives and reinforcing cooperation among European gambling regulators.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Ms. Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, who has concluded her term as Chairperson. Her dedication and leadership have played a pivotal role in strengthening GREF as a platform for regulatory collaboration and best practice. We thank her warmly for her outstanding service to the association.

Expansion of Membership

GREF is further pleased to welcome two new members to its growing network of regulatory authorities:

  • Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (Italy)

  • Romanian National Gambling Office (Romania)

Their addition brings GREF’s membership to 44 authorities, further strengthening the association’s collective expertise and capacity to address the evolving challenges of gambling regulation across Europe.

Release of First Annual Report

This year, GREF has published its first Annual Report, offering a comprehensive overview of the association’s activities, priorities, and achievements over the past year. The report reflects GREF’s commitment to facilitating dialogue, sharing insights, and promoting a coordinated approach to gambling regulation across Europe.

It also highlights the emergence of a distinctly European balanced regulatory approach—one that supports the development of a dynamic market while prioritising the protection of players and the public interest. Particular attention is given to the importance of tailored regulation to safeguard the most vulnerable, especially young adults.
